The Early Education Initiative seeks to promote a high-quality and continuous system of early care and education for all children, birth to age 8. While much of our focus is on pre-K up through 3rd grade, we also examine the need for high-quality infant and toddler care and better policies to support new parents.
Go to our Initiative's front page for more in-depth reporting and analysis, including 12 Ideas for the 112th Congress, ongoing coverage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the new Race to the Top competition, a report arguing for a major revamping of teacher preparation policies for the early grades, an exploration of what is missing in data systems, a call for a Next Social Contract for children's primary years, state-by-state analysis of early-learning systems, case studies on New Jersey and California, podcast interviews with innovators, packages of blog posts on Head Start and dual-language learners, magazine articles, op-eds, and more.
Our work is made possible through generous grants from the Foundation for Child Development and the W. Clement and Jessie V. Stone Foundation.
